Black Lake
Set in rolling countryside minutes from the edge of the city this water is one of our most picturesque venues. A farm pond that evokes childhood memories for many where a well placed bait would catch a monster perch that would be talked about for days although it was probably only around the twelve ounce mark.
Those fish are still there as are their big brothers and sisters, perch well in excess of three pounds have been taken here on lure and lob worms. A massive head of bream are present for such a small water and when located a truly special day can be had with nets in excess of one hundred pounds recorded in recent years taken on an accurately placed method feeder rig.
Silverfish are abundant and some very impressive carp and pike have been landed by dedicated anglers, large tench are also present. This can be a moody water and quiet days can be expected but when its on form you can expect some exceptional catches.
